Tractor Leaving as Small a Passing Gap as Possible

Riding on a single track through airfield (used by walkers, families, bikes & some farm traffic) - Never had an issue with any of the local farmers until today. As we approach each other I expected he would (like others before) to just move over to leave a reasonable gap to pass each other...but no. He went about 0.5m at most - so I just squeezed through but i'm a competent bike handler - others may not have been.
